The Environmental Health Division of Land Use is in charge of the county's septic ordinance, and issues well permits on behalf of the Minnesota Department of Health.

Environmental Health is committed to the protection of ground water. We permit and inspect new well construction, sealing of abandoned wells, and the installation of Subsurface Sewage Treatment Systems. (SSTS)
