Commissioner Anderson receives AMC President's Award at Annual Conference

Posted December 12, 2025 by Administration

Goodhue County Commissioner Brad Anderson on Tuesday received the 2025 Association of Minnesota Counties (AMC) President’s Award in recognition of his years of dedicated service in county government.

Announcing the award at AMC’s annual conference in Bloomington, AMC President Mike Slavik praised Commissioner Anderson as someone who “listens intently to the people he serves, always working to understand their needs and always trying to focus on the solution.”

The prestigious award is presented annually by the outgoing AMC president to honor county government leaders for exemplary public service. Anderson, a former district director who helped shape the organization’s statewide policy priorities, said of the recognition, “Receiving the President’s Award is an unexpected honor.”

Slavik further described Anderson as “deeply respected across the state” and “a trusted voice whose thoughtful approach constantly and consistently strengthens our work.”

Reflecting on his early experiences in rural Goodhue County, Anderson shared, “When I was a first-year 4-H’er and freshman FFA member, I couldn’t have predicted how the values instilled by exceptional leaders would become the foundation I rely on every day.”

Anderson has served on the Goodhue County Board of Commissioners since 2015 and currently serves as Chair. His previous public service includes six years on the Cannon Falls School Board, three years on the Belle Creek Watershed District Board, and 12 years as Clerk of Leon Township.

“It is rewarding to serve the residents of Goodhue County alongside an incredible county staff,” Anderson said. “Representing our county on the AMC Board and other regional boards—advocating for the people of our county and for Minnesota—is work that continues to motivate me.”

“To me,” Anderson added, “leadership is about lifting one another up and building on the strengths that make our county thrive. I remain committed to serving with a vision for a strong future for all of us.”
