Operation Green Light for Veterans

Posted November 4, 2024 by Veterans Service Office

Goodhue County along with Counties across the US, will once again show support for our Veterans by participating in Operation Green Light for Veterans.  The front of the Government Center will be illuminated by green lights from Monday, November 4th  through Veterans Day.  Please keep our Veterans in mind during this week of recognition and thank them if you have an opportunity to do so.

Operation Green Light for Veterans

America’s counties have a long and proud history of serving our nation’s veterans, a legacy that continues to this day as we work with our federal, state and local partners to ensure that the former service members have access to the resources they need to thrive.  This Veterans Day, the National Association of Counties (NACo) and the National Association of County Veterans Service Officers (NACVSO) invite the nation’s 3,069 counties, parishes, and boroughs to join Operation Green Light and show support for veterans by lighting our buildings green from November 4-11, 2024.  By shining a green light, county governments and our residents will let veterans know that they are seen, appreciated and supported.  This initiative, led by the NACo, raises awareness around the unique challenges faced by many veterans and the resources available at the county, state and federal levels to assist veterans and their families.  https://www.naco.org/program/operation-green-light-veterans

Veterans Day is the day set aside to thank and honor ALL those who served honorably in the military – in wartime or peacetime. In fact, Veterans Day is largely intended to thank LIVING veterans for their service, to acknowledge that their contributions to our national security are appreciated, and to underscore the fact that all those who served – not only those who died – have sacrificed and done their duty.
