Zumbrota VFW donates $10,000 to help homeless vets

Posted January 27, 2026 by Veterans Service Office

Members of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5727 in Zumbrota presented Goodhue County Veterans Services Coordinator Justin Kent with a check for $10,000, earlier this month. The donation will help fund services for veterans in Goodhue County who are experiencing homelessness. Commander John Mann said of the gift, “We try to see that profits from our Post stay in our community—particularly when it can help our vets in need.”

Since starting the Homeless Veterans program in 2024, Kent and the team at the Goodhue County Veterans Services Office have helped many vets get connected to resources that are available to them and has provided direct assistance when necessary.

District 3 County Commissioner Todd Greseth was on hand to acknowledge the post members for their efforts, sharing that thanks to them “our vets know that they appreciated and valued.”  Kent added, “We’re extremely grateful to the members of Post 5727 for their generous donation.”
