Minnesota winters can often mean snow, snow, and more snow. Goodhue County Public Works receives a number of phone calls each winter from residents whose mailboxes have been damaged by the snow and ice that is pushed out by the blades of passing snowplows. Although we apologize for the inconvenience this causes, clearing the full width of the roadway and widening out the shoulders is vital to public safety.
Goodhue County does not replace mailboxes or posts that are damaged by the moving snow. However, we do sell swing-away style mailboxes to help prevent damage from all of that heavy snow and ice. The swing-away support and post are available for a $110 fee at our Public Works office located at 2140 Pioneer Road in Red Wing. Our office is open Monday though Friday from 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM, excluding holidays.
We appreciate your cooperation and understanding in our efforts to keep our County highways safe during the winter season.
Adopt-A-Highway is a public service program for volunteers to pick up litter and debris along Minnesota’s roadways. It is a way for citizens to make a personal contribution to a cleaner environment.
What Roads are Available?
Blue sections are available and red sections are already adopted. When you zoom in on an area of the map, the length of each section (in miles) is shown in black numbers. The black arrows indicate the starting and stopping points of each section.
