Anyone who engages in the sale of 3.2% malt liquor within Goodhue County is required to obtain a license.
There are four types of 3.2% malt liquor licenses:
- On Sale - A drugstore, restaurant, hotel, club, bowling center and golf course may be issued a license to serve liquor to be consumed on the premises
- Off Sale - A drugstore, restaurant, hotel, club, bowling center, and golf course may be issued a license to sell liquor by the package.
- On and Off Sale - A drugstore, restaurant, hotel, club, bowling center, and golf course may be issued a license to serve liquor to be consumed on the premises and to sell liquor by the package.
- Conditional On Sale - A club or charitable, religious, or other non-profit organization may be issued a temporary license for the on-sale of 3.2% malt liquor.
Where to Apply
- For a 3.2% malt liquor license for an establishment in the city limits, applications must be submitted to the municipal clerk.
- For a 3.2% malt liquor license for an establishment outside the city limits, applications must be submitted to the County.
Application Process
The following required documents must be completed and accepted prior to issuing a permit. Forms can be downloaded online but must be signed and mailed or delivered to our office at 509 W. 5th St. Red Wing, MN 55066:
- Application for beer license
- Form SP: C1 – License Applicant Information
- Certification of Compliance with Minnesota Workers’ Compensation Law
- Licenses are valid for one year from the date of issuance (except for temporary on-sale licenses)
Fees & Applications
We will accept payment by cash, check, or money order. Checks should be made payable to Goodhue County.
