The Disease Prevention team works to prevent and control infectious (communicable) diseases in our county through ongoing public health measures such as:
- Public education and sharing information and resources
- Outbreak planning and disaster response
- Monitoring and reporting infectious disease occurrences
- Refugee health screening
- Tuberculosis screening/Mantoux test
Vaccinations
The following vaccinations/immunizations are available to those who qualify* (fee schedule):
- HepB: protects against hepatitis B
- HepA: protects against hepatitis A
- DTaP/Tdap: a combined vaccine that protects against diphtheria, tetanus, and pertussis (whooping cough)
- PCV: protects against pediatric pneumococcal disease
- Polio: protects against polio, the vaccine is also known as IPV
- MMR: protects against measles, mumps, and rubella (German measles)
- Meningococcal: protects against meningococcal disease (meningitis)
- Varicella: protects against varicella, also known as chickenpox
- HPV: protects against human Papillomavirus
- Seasonal Influenza: protects against influenza (flu)
